Hi Jamilla, about the outskirts of Florence is just because you went the wrong side: Novoli sucks ... if you go the other side: (Compiobbi) you can see beautiful places
The view from the Duomo An ice cream at Boboli Garden A trip on the scooter to Fiesole (I did once!) 1 hour from the beach -1 hour from the ski resort (Abbetone) My school (Polimoda)
WORST 5
The dirt and confusion of San Lorenzo Area Too much tourists!!! The traffic (and the buses never in time..!) No supermarkets in the centre The prices of the rent(we pay 500€ per single room per month)
1.Marco DeLaPierre 2.various markets and festivals that occur 3.the food 4.Fiesole! 5.The history of the city
WORST 5
1.construction 2.various beggars 3.everything being closed on Sunday 4.the fact that I can't live there permanantly without the right citizenship 5.it's too touristy!
BEST 1. My italian man 2. The quality of the meat 3. The nude beach in maremma 4. IKEA 5. The eccentric types on our street
WORST 1. The overprized and bad quality clothes 2. That there are no parcs or benches in the city center 3. That Coop doesn't have oatmeal 4. The humidity and the mosquitos 5. That no one and nothing ever is on time
BEST 1 Summer nights 2 Musicians playing in the street 3 Exploiting/mocking tourists 4 "Ciao Bella" 5 International student atmosphere 6 Being close to everything in Europe 7 The city is small enough to run into people you know- often 8 You make lots of friends from everywhere in the world 9 Heavenly food 10 You get to say you live in Italy
Worst 1 Summer mosquitos 2 The Elvis Impersonator Guy 3 Wading through the tourists 4"Oooh My Gohhd. Ciao Bionda. Yoooo speekashi Inglishhh?" 5 Going to a dinner and realizing that you have misunderstood, offended, or been impregnated by everyone at the table 6 The Train station and the train to Pisa airport to get to the rest of Europe cheaply 7 You will see that "random" man or woman who you hoped you would never see without beer/desprate goggles-again and again 8 The friends you make will only stay 4 months or so 9 You may need those pants in a bigger size 10 Having to explain that life in Italy is not like it is in "Under the Tuscan Sun"
Best 1. italian men some of course... 2. il vino!!! 3. The beautiful small city of florence 4. The clubs and bars (Nightlife) 5. the food
Worst 1. albanians and other immigrants who pose as italians 2. too many tourists!! 3. The poop on the ground i repeadedly stepped on!! 4. Rude italians who had strong stereotypes against americans 5. Overpriced Rent!
1. the fooooooooooooooooooood , mamma mia che buono! bistecca fiorentina.. yummy!
2. men ( hehe..i love the affection, why cant more american guys be openly affectionate!)
3. the fact that you can WALK everywhere ( hence less DUI's), i lived in LA for 5 years and people drive across the street to get starbucks!)
4. the small discoveries you make.. the abandoned villa or that perfect cappucino..not everything exists in piazza duomo!
5. the people you meet, very international and culture minded.. ive met some amazing people in florence and i hope that never ends..
the worst.. 1. poo poo and street cleaners.. if your not almost always stepping in dog/horse/who knows what shit.. your getting sprayed with it by the street cleaners! bastards!
2. people who dont appreciate the city, for as many awesome people i have met i have met a number of people that just complained about florence.. local and international.. it makes me think of what it must have been like in 1966 when the flood happened.. you never appreciate it until its too late..
3. over -aggressive men and albanians that pose like italians.. i dont like rude girls either but when you politely decline a mans offer and he gets angry and says horrible things to you.. well.. come on.. not the best impression anyway
4. being constantly ripped off.. now this is one that i dont really have a problem with because i know italian and know where to go but it does make me sad that some people are just eager tourists who made it their dream to come to italy saving money to spend 10 euros on a bad panino ( i have met people that actually think the fod in italy is bad! can you believe it!). so sad..
5. the hard time making italian girl friends. i have been able to make tons of friends internationally but have a hard time meeting italian girls.. where are they? im sure they are nice..but meeting them is a challenge!
1. Area around the duomo (people watching is always a lot of fun) 2. Eavesdropping on conversations (I look American, but I understand Italian. It's kinda funny at times) 3. Antico Noe Panini 4. The street performers 5. Opening my window and being able to experience the life of the street from a floor up...a bird's-eye view.
Worst: 1. Beggers/Gypsies 2. Packs of tourists 3. Stupid American University students who refuse to even try to speak/learn Italian 4. Aggressive men 5. No trees in the city
